I figured it you out.
My style of writing.
It feels technical and stiff and dry as hell.
Like rock against sandpaper.
But it's scrupulous; analytical.
I belabour over every. single. word.
Each proper and improper placement of punctuation—
it all has a purpose;
a place on my page—my stage.
I slice a sentence in half
with a blunt(sharp?) exclamation mark.
I chop off its split ends
with a cursed, curved comma
I make the sound of syllables slapping
feel good and groovy.
Then I give it cadence—
give it a rhythm to waltz to.
And thrash to.
And smash to.
She's industrial.
Like jazz.
Like math rock.
Then I bring her to life.
I give her a personality.
Make her something living, while suffering.
A breathing and complex being.
